The nurse’s remediation and support plan meant local management - was a hearing the best way to resolve? The NMC should review and consider more efficient handling of similar cases for future improvements.

The NMC should consider if cases like this could be managed without a FtP hearing. With a support plan in place, the nurse was remediating well. Representation may have impacted the outcome but the NMC needs to review and learn from these cases.

For those registrants who take their own lives during FtP investigations it is little too late - we need prompt assessment of mental health and immediate identification of risk to life - if a trust had this number of suicides year on year more would be done...
