WINTER ALERT: Planned winter services actions from 7:00pm on Monday 24th November 2025
Based on the most recent weather forecast we plan to carry out gritting from 7:00pm on Monday 24th November 2025 on the following routes: Allendale, Alnwick 4, Bearl 4, Haltwhistle 1, Otterburn 1, Otterburn 2 and Rothbury. Then from 4:00am on Tuesday 25th November 2025 on the following route: Otterburn 2. Then from 4:30am on the following routes: Allendale and Otterburn 1. You can view our map showing all primary gritting routes at: https://nland.cc/nccgritters Please note that Highways England is responsible for gritting the A1 and A19 - contact them on 0300 1235000 or email info@highwaysengland.co.uk Today will see variable cloud and spells of rain or showers moving in from the northeast, falling as snow and sleet on the higher ground. Tonight, will see variable cloud with further isolated light showers moving in from the north at times, these wintry on hills. A few clearer spells at times between the showers. A colder night. Tomorrow will start largely dry, with patches of cloud moving in and a few showers confined to coastal areas. It will become dry in the afternoon. Bright spells on western areas. Based on the most recent weather forecast initial gritting works will commence at 1:00pm on Thursday 20th November 2025 with the following main routes being gritted from 4:00pm: Allendale, Alnwick 1, Alnwick 2, Alnwick 3, Alnwick 4, Bearl 1, Bearl 2, Bearl 3, Bearl 4, Bearl 5, Bearl 6, Bellingham 1, Bellingham 2, Berwick 1, Berwick 2, Cowley 1, Cowley 2, Cowley 3, Cowley 4, Cowley 5, Haltwhistle 1, Haltwhistle 2, Morpeth 1, Morpeth 2, Morpeth 3, Otterburn 1, Otterburn 2 and Rothbury.
