Maghaberry has gone the extra mile to raise over £6000 for the Cancer Fund for Children. Half of the funds raised came from donations by prisoners. Relay teams of staff and prisoners ran a virtual #BelfastMarathon around the prison. Well done to everyone on an incredible achievement.

Hydebank recently hosted a graduation event for women in our care who completed ‘Trauma Talks’ with Start 360. These are the first groups of women in Europe to complete the programme aimed at addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences.

Last week saw Senior Officers from Maghaberry Prison kitchen donating a £1500 to Almost Home Animal Rescue NI which rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes animals to their forever homes. The donation came from The Tray Bake Team, a prisoner enterprise at Maghaberry.

Events have taken place across our prisons for #IWD2025. Maghaberry staff celebrated #internationalwomensday2025 with some sweet treats.

Magilligan Prison recently welcomed Barnardos Parenting Matters service to host a visit for student social workers. Students were able to learn about the service, which works with prisoners and their families to strengthen relationships and reduce the impact of trauma. 1/2
