Time and again, we see that the Turkish colonial establishment’s greatest fear is the Kurds exercising self-governance in their historic homeland.
Mayors of Tunceli and Ovacik have been removed on charges of belonging to and supporting the PKK. These mayors are from both DEM (Tunceli) and CHP (Ovacik), and two regions that have deep histories of left opposition in Turkey. Comes on the heels of CHP leader Özel’s meeting w/ intel chief Kalin.
