SO MUCH FUN watching Zootopia 2 tonight. I'll admit, I was a little nervous it wasn't going to be as good as the first, but I had a blast. Can't wait to see it, like, 4 more times in theaters. (astronaut wolf rave pic is from the teaser trailer, no spoilers here! at least not for a week or so :)

Construction update: we insulated the Living Room a few weeks ago, and just finished the air barrier and ceiling strapping. Next steps are ordering the drywall and building a new door frame for the south wall. It's finally warm in there! Cozy, even.

It's an amazing thing to walk out into the garden and come back with lunch. There are few more intimate ways to foster your relationship with the place you live. And, yum.

Interesting episode of Radiolab which gave me some food for thought with my recent program on sexual diversity in nature. Menopause also challenges the dominant paradigm in evolutionary biology that the "value" of a species is tied to reproductive success (🧵below) ⬇️

Wow, what a mess! Before pictures of the exterior wall that's now an interior wall. All built with hand-driven 20d nails. Since this was taken, the doorway has moved, the wall reframed (with a supporting post for the ridge), most of the electric removed, and drywall installed on the other side.

I finished our new grape pergola (and swing) so we can sit and have a lovely view of the vegetable garden and path. All the logs are red maple from behind our house. Just need those grapes to grow so we can have shade!

Building geekery ahead: The living room that connects both sides of the house is in-between a high performing, well insulated build and a "eh" build, so I'm matching the former details. Double wall construction, vapor open, and air barrier in-between the walls to prevent punctures. 🧵
