Fresh intro for the newcomers! I’m Nick, concept and storyboard artist, 17 years in game dev, BioWare veteran, illustrator and most recently cinematic director at Humanoid Origin before its unfortunate closure. Here’s some of my personal art. Barbarians are my comfort food. Unroll for more.🧵
First time seeing “Did You Hear What Happened in Salem?” out in the wild.

Ever do that thing where you mute your audio in a zoom call to cough politely but you actually were muted to begin with so you just unmuted to cough your loud athsmatic cough? Me neither.

There was a charity community run haunted house in my hometown growing up and it was the best.

Years ago when I played Red Dead Redemption, and lyrics began to weave into the score, I thought it might be one of the most memorable aesthetic choices in a game. Then along comes Scylla in Hades II belting out "I am going to CLAAAAAAAAAAW out your EYEEEEES and DROWN. YOU. TO DEATH."

Just like with Hades 1, Hades 2 has me going down a Greek mythology rabbit hole! I’ve dusted off my copy of Edith Hamilton’s book. And this Orphic hymn about Melinoë goes hard.

Hey! I’ve got a twin brother who got the talent. He is a composer. Listen to this score he wrote! Bombastic, cinematic and colourful. youtu.be/_GBjuTgG-Kw?...

Illario Appreciation Month: Week 3 - Blood Magic

This is my take on @nickthornborrow.bsky.social's narrative sketch of a shirtless and hulked out Illario. Thanks for the inspiration!

The house I grew up in has been listed for sale. So surreal looking at how it looks now. It’s the same structure but utterly unrecognizable cosmetically. It’s wearing a suit… like an Edgar suit. Except it’s gorgeous.

Davis has many great lists of artists to find with a lot of hidden gems.
I heard new people are making their way to Bluesky today. It seems like a good time to remind everyone that I have some starter packs filled with amazing artists to follow 🥰

I’ve been getting attributed to the Veilguard 2D cutscene illustrations. Proper credit where it’s due is one of my ticks, and although I storyboarded a bunch of those sequences, the final illustrations were NOT done by me. I hate that I can’t recall who the artists were.

I've been really happy with my drawings lately which is kind of unheard of, but I still need you to keep me in my thoughts because pretty soon I have to draw a horse again.

Actual government censorship in Alberta.
Bruce McAllister should resign in any public capacity, but he should absolutely maintain his fear of young people.
At tonight’s “consultation”…

When a high school kid tried to raise concerns about the teachers strike, Bruce McAllister cut the kids mic and then suggested his parents should have beaten him more.

Listen to the clip yourself…

It’s…

Telling.

Tonight’s plein air sketch. It was a fun way to spend an evening with neighbours. Grateful to everyone who showed up and made some art!

What are we all doing this Sunday?
I know what I’m doing and I’m kinda nervouscited about it. I’m running a plein air workshop for my local neighborhood community group. These two paintings were in preparation for this event. Wish me luck!

Mind blowing craftsmanship
The toolmaking for this process alone required the skills of a carpenter with the steady hand and eye of a jeweler. David Evans was the largest British block printer on a commercial level and their block archive was incredible. But sadly, the process came to an end in the 1980s.
