I bought an old school mpc 1000 (with JJOS) over the weekend and absolutely love it so far. Thought it would have a steep learning curve but it's very intuitive. The slower workflow really forces me to think about what samples I use and how they're sequenced. Thing feels like a musical instrument.

Taking a break from music production to focus on piano lessons has been a pretty smart move so far imo - starting to realize how little i knew about even basic music theory... even a few months of this is going to pay dividends in the long run. Want to use keys to write better top lines & melodies.
