Our new research shows UK winters are becoming significantly wetter due to a rise in global temperatures. Rainfall is increasing around 7% for each degree in warming. So we're experiencing rainfall levels 20 years ahead of predictions - enough to fill 3 million Olympic size swimming pools a year.

Our researchers have been part of a new study revealing ancient Egyptians were using a mechanically sophisticated drilling tool 5,300 years ago, rewriting the story of ancient Egyptian tools! 😮

Our experts have led a new study alongside @metoffice.gov.uk that identifies warning signs for extreme flash flooding. 🌧️

The research helps explain some of the world’s most dangerous flash-flood events, and may also aid future improvements in identifying risk.

The unsung architect behind the our Students'​ Union building was honoured with a blue plaque by Newcastle City Council last week 👏

Robert Burns Dick (1868-1954) also worked on the Tyne Bridge towers, the Laing Art Gallery and Whitley Bay’s Spanish City to name a few!
