There has been a lot of discussion of the UK's ZEV mandate and trade in cars following US President Trump's proclamation on automotive tariffs.

Our latest briefing explores what - if anything - the ZEV mandate has to do with US exports of BEVs to the UK.

E-Mobility Europe and @newautomotive.org have released a new study which shows that the EU *must* stick to the 2025 targets to protect 450,000 electric cars to be sold, 530,000t CO2 savings and €270 million fuel savings. www.reuters.com/business/aut...

UK EV registrations just had their best ever start to the year! Up by 34% on January 2024, and just a few percentage points under where they need to be for ZEV mandate compliance already. Find out more and get the full market report at newautomotive.org/ecc

Great to see the UK's electricity now cleaner than ever before, averaging just 124 grammes of carbon per unit of power. Ten years ago, that figure was over 400. Driving an EV has never been cleaner! www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-uks...

Used electric cars represent "exceptional value for money" and are flying off forecourts (NB they don't fly), according to Cap hpi www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/electr...
Used EVs are selling FASTER than petrol and diesel for this reason
In the month of November, second-hand dealers were, on average, selling a used EV in just 33 days. This compares to a 40 days across all fuel types.

Despite recent headlines, today's data from @newautomotive.org shows that electric vehicle targets are working, with one in four new cars sold in November being fully electric.

We should hold fast on electric vehicle targets because they’re working

New data from @newautomotive.org show 1/4 new cars sold in November were electric.

The Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) mandate is working and it's vital that the government maintains this ambitious policy despite pressure from select manufacturers.

Just 15 battery electric HGVs sold last month (figs from @newautomotive.org). Number registered so far this year is actually down on 2023. But we're only 5 years away from ban on sales of new diesel HGVs below 26T.
Reopening the ZEV mandate now is distracting policy makers from focusing on this.
