A very crisp read by @nebahattanriverdi.bsky.social:

"Turkey’s new approach to Iraq is not only driven by its intensified rivalry with Iran. It is also a response to Ankara’s perceived marginalisation by the US-led India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor."

Trump’s remarks not only weaken Ukraine, embolden Russia or signal US disengagement from the conflict

But with far-reaching global consequences:
Further divisions within NATO
A shift toward unilateral defense strategies
Offensive posturing replacing deterrence
revisionism for territorial expansion
Trump’s logic defies the very fundamental principle of modern international law, enshrined in the UN Charter, the prohibition of land acquisition by aggression.

Is the U.S. now endorsing the collapse of the UN system and a return to the ‘right of conquest’ and a world where might makes right?
Trump implies that since Russia "fought for that land" in Ukraine "and lost alot of soldiers" doing it, that Russia should keep it.

I can't remember a darker day for the democratic world.
