I used to make comics. Now I fuck around and find out in AI.

Prev: AWS, React/Native at Meta, MSFT, W3C, MDN
I've been referring to the Luddite movement and the cruelty of Victorian workhouses throughout every Christmas Carol performance I've endured this holiday season. Folks, we've been here.

This smells like an LLM wrote it. "Repeats nice sounding comparisons without quoting any real people" and "salesman trying to get me to buy into something" are smells.

Sending out all my 2026 CFPs today. I have two talks covering serverside and clientside UX, may the best one win:

- The Anti-Social Agent: A Case Study in MCP Auth and UI
- The Headless Web

Where would you like to see them?

I swear, if Claude Code didn't have me, it would just fall apart on the job.

My Christmas present to myself this year is an emergency trip to the ergonomic desk chair shop. I was using a Herman Miller chair at Arcade.dev for a week, and my back pain disappeared! Now it's back. I must go do the thing.
Go Beyond Chat: Make AI actually do things.

When I go back and look at react.dev now, after having shipped a half dozen more developer education portals since launch, it feels half-finished

Things to keep you up at night: As a founder raising, interested parties will commission investigations into you that include paying ex-employees to share their experiences under your leadership.

Get a coach. Don't wing this stuff. It's not the same as managing.

Travel hack: a hotel bar can be a makeshift coworking space, even if you aren't staying in the hotel! It is like a cafe, but you won't be inconveniencing anyone for sticking around for quite some time. They are used to travelers lingering!
