I used to make comics. Now I fuck around and find out in AI.

Prev: AWS, React/Native at Meta, MSFT, W3C, MDN
My partner is dragging me out of my Code Hole for a magical Valentine's surprise trip.

No Claude Code.
No Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

It is going to be very difficult

Folks are hyped about WebMCP this week! Don't know what it is or what it means for the web? Don't worry, I interviewed its creator to explain how WebMCP started as a skunkworks Auth project at Amazon then became a web standard at the W3C:

WebMCP: Agents on the Web and in the Browser
Alex Nahas, creator of WebMCP, was a backend engineer at Amazon building agents with MCP trying to solve agent authorization. His solution? Run MCP inside the browser. That side project became…

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the creator of WebMCP for a limited series on the people building the future of agents. It all started when Alex Nahas was trying to solve authorization for internal MCP servers at Amazon! Incredible! www.arcade.dev/blog/web-mcp...

LLMs tripled new book releases since 2022. Average quality fell: most new entries are slop

BUT books 100-1,000 per category are actually better than before, & pre-LLM authors got more productive. And since people only read the good books, it is net positive for readers. www.nber.org/papers/w34777

You know your client's competition has no shame when they let an LLM hallucinate their diss-track content.

Prize for most egregious hallucination: "Machine-Callable Plugin"

(Did the PSEO contractor cheap out on the model?)

Don't be this guy, folks. Use Arcade.dev for MCP Auth ♥️

I would like to join a verbal self defense group.

Recently someone on a train shouted (off the handle, giving orders not requests) at my group to stop talking because we were being "too loud" (ie having a 4-way conversation, like normal people). I was so stunned, I said nothing, passive

As I said tonight to someone who marveled at how far I've come without a degree, family, inheritance, "Just imagine what I could do if I were lucky"
it's very hard to articulate the accumulative effect of trying to work in spaces that constantly remind you that the well being of women will always be sacrificed for the perceived value and potential of men

How to think of MCP tools Vs Agent skills:
Tools are means to accomplish tasks. Skills are the knowledge of how to accomplish tasks.

Tool: wings
Skills: how to flap, soar, dive

Coming from web standards, I can see the agent platforms fighting it out with platform-specific features (the OpenAI object gives you access to sessions and models!), but I know eventually it's all going to get smoothed into one standard (like MCP Apps). The cycle of innovation starts! #mcpconnect

I regret downloading the latest Keynote. It's covered in shiny new features, which when you click on them, ask you to sign up for a subscription service.

I'm getting visual clutter and more friction for some Product Team to hit their new conversion KPIs. Dissappointing.
