Today, #ICC appeal chamber judges will decide whether the Confirmation of Charges hearing for Joseph #Kony - leader of the #LRA charged with #warcrimes and #crimesagainsthumanity in #Uganda - can go ahead in his absence.
#ICC: Joseph #Kony’s defence team filed an appeal against the decision to conduct a “confirmation of charges” hearing in his absence.

The decision on that appeal will be announced next Tuesday, 3 June, at 10:30 local time in #TheHague

Overall grant rate has fallen to 49% for y/e March 2025. Practitioners (including me) have been raising serious concerns about the extremely poor quality of these decisions, and these cases will now move into tribunal backlog instead, mostly unassisted by lawyers due to legal aid crisis.
