Kicking off a busy next few days where I'll be leaving sunny Florida to set-up my (temporary) shop in NYC.

First up on the agenda this Thursday 10/23 will be the Permutive Summit. Excited to meet various colleagues and dive deep into AI and Agentic Advertising, 1P Data and Identity, Curation etc.

In the middle of work, I realized that I just passed 6 months of going solo & starting my own AdTech consulting business. While not all sunshine & rose, it's been an incredible start so far. Thanks to all my current and future clients, let's talk 1P Data, Curation, AdOps, YieldOps, COPPA & more!

Ad spend in gaming environments still lags. Ever since I began my online advertising career in 2008 at Playwire we had to constantly evangelize our inventory, trying to convince non-endemic brands why they should advertise with us. Fast forward 17 years, and the industry is still behind.

Excited to announce that I will be attending @marketecture.tv's Live Conference in New York 3/17! Looking forward to great sessions and seeing all my fellow AdTech colleagues (and of course paying respect to @adtechgod.com ). Please reach out to schedule some face to face time while I am in NYC!

Custom bidding algorithms are great, so is publisher 1P data, but what I find interesting with Nodals is that they are taking a different experimental approach in essentially living outside of the established SSP to DSP ecosystem (for now).

Publishers look at this data from Seer Interactive. They analyzed the impact of Google's AI Overviews on search results and respective CTRs. The impact is astounding. During one sample month organic CTR drops from ~4% to ~0.6% when an AI Overview is shown.

We need to do better on the open web. Just clicked to read an article about the new switch console and this is what my eyes have to deal with.

Congrats to the team at Sincera on the acquisition by TTD. I've always admired their exceptional metadata. The potential to merge Sincera’s rich supply-side data with TTDs massive buy-side data is truly exciting. This integration could fill a critical gap in reporting and analysis for publishers.

2024 has been one of the most memorable years of my life. From getting married in Puerto Rico to taking my first-ever sabbatical after 16 years at Playwire, I am beyond grateful for the incredible experiences this year has brought. Wishing everyone a Happy NYE and an amazing start to 2025!

You ever sit around and randomly think of an old ad server (or other AdTech) platform? Just had to think of LiveRail... Ahead of its time as a video ad server / SSP. A real shame what happened to it after the Facebook acquisition.

Another article on curation, but this time with some insightful perspectives on Data & Taxonomies that caught my eye.

Totally agree that publishers need different data taxonomies (from more to less granular) depending on the sales channel where they are offered

DSPs are biased toward impressions that have an identifier attached, so SSPs are using curated deal IDs as a stand-in for third-party cookies.

So far it does seem like most AdTech related conversations are still happening on X, and/or the algorithm here isn't good/trained enough yet to show me relevant conversations.
