Everyone has the right to remain silent when questioned or arrested. D.C. police cannot order you to show identification (with the exception of a driver’s license during a traffic stop). Still, immigration agents can require non-citizens to provide documents and disclose their status.

Cops may be willing to risk their lives to pursue imaginary classifications of crime, but do they get to risk your life too? Most of the two people a day killed by police car chases in the U.S. were innocent bystanders.
Proposition E will lead to more risks. Voters will decide if they're okay with that.
Voters, a San Francisco cop concludes, should understand that Proposition E “likely will put more people in danger."
