We’re building software architecture tooling for the AI age
Question for any security devs out there: what is the better option?

1. A JWT with a 5-minute timeout, and returning a new JWT on each request

2. A 1-minute JWT with a 5-minute refreshToken that can be used to get a new JWT in a separate request

Taking your company open-source requires a leap of faith

But luckily, that leap of faith is very worth it #buildinpublic

Social media is like going to a digital town square.

While you’re there, several dudes in large trench coats are following you with obvious cameras and recording everything you do.

Privacy is important in real life, and it’s time we start making it important online too

I can’t believe it

We were rejected from a fund for open-source projects on the basis the we had taken (an incredibly small amount) of VC funding

Did your game make less than X? Then IP rights go to the publisher.

It’s still predatory but at least gives the chance for devs to have continued success
nanoapi.io Joel @nanoapi.io · Jan 18
Hmm, that definitely needs to change.

I understand why holding the IP hostage works for publishers, but it would be much better to do a conditional on sales.

Bluesky #devs I need your help.

We are looking for partners to use our tool to better understand their software architecture and provide feedback.

Please reshare or send to anyone who could be interested!

As a founder you have one job:

Keep showing up

Everything else can be figured out later

Holy crap

Today marks 1,000 days since I wrote the first line of code for nanoapi.io

It’s been a long road but I couldn’t have hoped for a better founder journey 🎊🍻

The business side of game dev is odd and a bit scammy

Giving up your IP in any other business field would simply not fly

But if you take a look at most game publishers on Wikipedia, you’ll see that a suspicious amount of the games they publish have the sequel developed in-house 🤔

You know, the first time I learned about the fundraising process and spoke with investors i realized something.

It would be pretty easy to pull a Theranos if you’re a great liar

In classic ADHD fashion I picked up another hobby/side project.

I’m working on building a party game in Godot

For reference I built all of this in one week on nights and weekends

And it’s just an amazing game engine #godot #buildinpublic

You need to control the narrative in VC calls

If you let investors steer the conversation they will drive it right off a cliff

Make sure to balance answering questions with asking questions of your own. You are in control of the company; not vice versa

Microsoft is awful

I just spent an entire day trying to make a bootable USB from Mac and Linux to flash another Linux PC to windows. In the end I had to give up and ask someone to flash it from their windows PC

It’s like they don’t want people to use their OS

GitHub has way too many bots.

We had some sketchy stars come in and then out of nowhere they all vanished.

This honestly makes it difficult to take the stars metric serious

As soon as you can, create a holding company. Especially if you plan on taking investments.

There’s so many unseen costs that pop up if you don’t structure things correctly early on.

For instance, an advisor of ours had to pay 100k to move his IP into his company #founders

It’s difficult to relax for
Christmas/holidays knowing that so much needs to be done.

Everything being dead this time of year makes it easier, but we’re also on the verge of a fundraise.

Hope all the other founders can get some relaxing in as well 🎄 #founders #startups #dev
