Visited Mahatma Jyotiba & Savitri Bai Fule Vada. I spent time in kitchen, freshly coated by dung ( लीपाई). Thought of Savitri Bai working there every day. All captions were in Marathi, wish Hindi & English translation was available. Wondered why it's not Mahatma Jyotiba Fule & Savitri Bai Fule Vada.

Kasturba, remembering her on her death anniversary. One of the most deserving women who has not found a place her worth in History, not even in Gandhian history, which has seen her mostly as just a subordinate.

Padma Vibhushan Baba Amte, the state showered him with awards but didn't pay heed to his wisdom. His home Nijbal, was drowned out by the Sardar Sarovar #dam, where he lived and fought against the dam for over a decade. Remembering Baba on his birthday.

Holidays r here, many will visit Statue of Unity. But remember, Sardar Sarovar Dam & Kevadia colony, where infrastructure for tourism is built, is on #tribal lands. Listen to Adivasi leader Kapilaben to know the injustice brought upon by dispossession of people. oralhistorynarmada.in/women-leader...
The Late Kapila (ben) Tadvi  – Oral History Narmada
Kapilaben, one among the top tribal leaders of the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) in Gujarat, who sadly passed away only very recently as I write this in March 2021, was from village Vaghadia.

#Oral #History methodology differs from other #Research : Interviewing Chaganbhai Kevat in 2008 and once again in 2024, 16 years later. Before the Sardar Sarovar Dam was built and after many years of its completion.

No, this submerged structure is not a #Mosque but a Shiv #Temple, drowned out in Bargi dam on river Narmada, for 30 years. On 6th December, my heart aches remembering the demolition of #Babri Masjid that shook my belief in, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- That The World Is One Family.

Visual #pollution of #Mumbai is saddening. The ugly light poles on the beach were bad enough obstructing view of sea. Now, one more road being built in the sea! Coming generation will not know what pristine sea once looked like. But then, air pollution will be so high, visibility will be down to 0.

Instead of digging under #Mosques, if Sardar Sarovar #Dam on #River Narmada is emptied, several historical #Temple complexes will emerge, like this one at village Chikhalda in Madhya Pradesh. Historical temples like Shulpaneshwar, Hapeshwar, Koteshwar & hundreds of others remain submerged in dam.

Narmada now a reservoir of Sardar Sarovar #Dam, is heavily silted and polluted. Livestock be it buffaloes or goats can no longer graze or even drink freely as the river banks on both side are drowned out. They are now stall fed and drinking water is provided to them through motorised pumps

Narmada, once a flowing River, now a reservoir of Sardar Sarovar Dam.

Nandi, submerged in the Sardar Sarovar #Dam waters at village Chikhalda for several months, thankfully emerged out of the waters this year too as reservoir waters recede. Is it to me alone that he looks so totally bewildered? :-(

Temples, that are historical stand firm inspite of repeated submergence in the Sardar Sarovar #Dam on river #Narmada but new construction collapses. These old temples should have been relocated by the government or atleast properly documented

"River Narmada", no longer a River but a reservoir of the Sardar Sarovar #Dam. Parikramavasis can no longer walk on her banks but on highway for kilometres. The Narmada, in which we drank water directly, is now so filthy & stinking a reservoir that I found it difficult to step in.
