Because it’s back in the news I am reposting this 🧵 about Pantone’s 2025 color of the year.

Whether or not you like the color brown Mocha Mousse is much more than 💩

No comment on the 2026 pick Cloud Dancer.

It deploys textual, archaeological & numismatic evidence to make the case for tangible material entanglements between the Red Sea & colonial North America & to explore the obscured lives of those enslaved from Madagascar in the 1690s. MAP: indianoceanexchanges.com/coin/mvvmap....

The terms 'lodge' or 'factory' make the establishments seem formal or structurally distinct from other bldg types. Sometimes they were purpose built, but often they were provisional. On this one, I'll boost an old article of mine from a different ocean. indianoceanexchanges.com/pubs/JSAHPub...

I love this thread! Art historians like @marselykehoe.bsky.social to the rescue! On the lodge ?, don't know specifically about Cochin, but it was common for a company/merchant to rent an ordinary house as trade base an in Indian Ocean port, especially before settling more formal trade agreements.
