I love this quote!

Getting up every morning to do what’s needed to make a meaningful contribution to the economy, the community and to life itself can, and often does, take real courage.

We see your efforts.

Real listening is real work. It also has benefits – listening with intention and responding thoughtfully creates the sense of belonging and inclusion that colleagues need to feel safe. When people feel safe, they are more engaged and productive.

Every few years I do something truly different from anything I have ever done before, just to see where it takes me.

At a recent @thewpo.bsky.social meeting in Mexico, I took part in a Mayan Ritual of cleansing and renewal … Temazcal.

#NancyTalks: progress

Not all progress is visible. Some of the most meaningful growth happens quietly – through better decisions, a shift in perspective or a clearer boundary. If something changes internally, it still counts as progress.

We talk endlessly about time management, rarely about energy management. Two people can work the same hours in a day with vastly different outcomes.

This is not because of discipline, or a lack thereof; rather, it’s about where and how their energies are spent.

#NancyTalks: success

Success changes what you owe yourself. Early on, it's about proving you can. Later, it’s about deciding how you want to continue your path to leadership success.

With so much division and uncertainty in our communities, it’s worth considering who feels like they belong and who still has to work to prove they deserve a seat at the table.

Let’s see who is missing from the table and invite them in – not only to take up space but to participate fully.

On top of the chaos that currently surrounds us, the working year has begun with all its agenda- and goal-setting. I love my work, but I know myself – it’s so easy to get caught up in being driven by outcomes.

We live in a world obsessed with efficiency – smarter, leaner, faster! But not every part of life or leadership benefits from optimization.

Some things, like creativity and relationships, need space, time and patience to work properly.

Last week, I was in back-to-back meetings and video calls, dealt with agendas and ticked off numerous action items.

Yes, work was done, goals achieved and to-do lists cleared.

Then I met up with a colleague for an unscheduled coffee break. No agenda. Just conversation.

#NancyTalks: curiosity

Curiosity isn’t soft. It’s a strategic edge.

When leaders stay curious, decisions get smarter.

It’s a leadership advantage.

#NancyTalks: saying no

Everyone’s making lists right now. Goals for the new year. Fresh priorities. Big plans.

I’m doing the opposite. I’m asking: What am I not doing in 2026?
What commitment am I releasing? What relationship, project or pattern am I done with?

Earlier this year, I took a deeper look at how I’ve changed over the past decade. I revisited old personal assessment worksheets, answering them as if for the first time, and compared who I was then to who I am now.

#NancyTalks: pausing

I’ve had to learn that taking a pause, often when it’s not convenient, isn’t optional; it’s vital.

It’s not a luxury for when things slow down; it’s a requirement for staying oriented.

Pausing is a powerful tool that helps you deliver and perform at your best.

Fresh perspectives…

The pressure to make December special often robs it of what makes it meaningful.

So this December, I'm trying something different. More presence. Less perfection. More truth.

How are you approaching the festive season this year?

When I listen deeply, it feels like a gift – but it also takes more energy than people realize.

Leadership is often about this paradox: what strengthens us can also stretch us.

How do you protect your energy while giving your best as a leader?

Fresh Perspectives

With AI automation reshaping industries faster than policies can adapt, the question isn’t whether to move forward, but rather how to move forward responsibly.

It requires balancing innovation with integrity.

How do you decide between fast or right?

#NancyTalks: listening

Every strong team I’ve worked with had one thing in common: someone willing to really listen. Not to respond, but to understand.

Listening changes the room; it shifts tension into connection, and from that place real work begins.

Imagine trust as a bucket.

Some people start with it full, and every broken promise drains it. Others start empty, and every kept promise fills it.
Either way – every drop matters.

When it comes to trust, every little bit counts: www.nancygeenen.com/blog/2025/wh...

Being kind boosts mental health more than seeking joy.

Evidence: Doing 3 random acts of kindness a week is enough to reduce depression, anxiety & loneliness. It's more beneficial than doing nice things for yourself.

Self-care feels good, but generosity builds lasting bonds.

Fresh Perspectives

As the year draws to a close, I’ve been thinking about the qualities leaders will need most in 2026.

– Less perfectionism, more presence
– Less urgency, more understanding
– Less noise, more nuance

What would you add to this list?

#NancyTalks: trust

Trust is built in the quiet moments, in the follow-up call, in the pause before speaking, and in honesty when it’s uncomfortable.

We talk about trust as a foundation, but it’s more like breath – invisible, constant, essential.

#NancyTalks: pace

Some of the most meaningful progress doesn’t come from moving faster. It comes from pausing long enough to see what truly matters.

In leadership, urgency can be seductive because it feels productive.

But wisdom often whispers. You only hear it when you slow down.

1/2. The leaders who will thrive in 2026 will be the ones who ask the hardest questions, not those with the most answers.

In uncertain times, leadership isn’t about certainty; it’s about curiosity, humility and the courage to pause before reacting.
