Gotta install Twitter again.

Staying current requires signal.

I don’t see as much @evanyou.me , @tannerlinsley.com , @bacon.bsky.social etc. here.
Mostly political noise.

For example, here I see 1 “Vite Plus” reference, there it’s a firehose + Theo streaming about it. 🤷‍♂️

with ramadan coming up next weekend, I wanted to work on a small web app to celebrate this month

so I built sounds-of-suhoor.vercel.app

users can easily share and discover sounds from around the world, whether it's quiet streets, the call to prayer or the clinking of dishes!

🙈 CLOSE YOU EYES. Can you imagine the web w/ no images? Well, 32 years ago TODAY, the email that would change the web for ever was sent.
🎉 The proposal to add images to the web was posted to the mailing list by Marc Andreessen, and the wheels were officially in motion. Super short thread w/ link 🧵⬇️

etymology.today now features a 3D globe, allowing you to properly visualise locations important to the word's etymology history!

مقهى is a great example of that: a word that emerged in the Middle East, and then travelled all the way to Europe, to become "cafe"!

is there a way to connect with more people that are outside of the US on bsky? right now it really feels like my entire discovery feed is US-focused and I really wish to hear about more diverse stories!

Sorry, it’s not you, this is actually making my mental health worse and the algorithm doesn’t seem to work even though I repeatedly indicate it to “show less posts like this”.

today's and yesterday's words were pretty good 🤩

there's only one thing missing: the word is not written in its original script 😓 I need to fix this!

when working remotely, it always feels like I have a hard time keeping track of what tasks I'm supposed to do on the daily to remain healthy. so I decided to create "alibi" (might change the name later idk)
it's right there: alibi-sooty.vercel.app

I have actually decided to refine the prompt so that it appeals to more people. Less cultural, scientific or artistic words and more everyday words from any language!
Today: biscotto (biscuit)
11.01.2025
Biscotto ("biscotto")
"A small, often round, piece of bread or cake, typically sweetened and baked."

I think I finally managed to have a satisfying result! Before yesterday the AI model would have a hard time not picking words that had already been picked before or words whose themes had been recently picked.

Took quite a bit of prompt engineering but got there!

Tari ("tari")
