What an amazing first day we had at the @gould.usc.edu conference, Philosophy of Law Meets Philosophy of Emotions!
Ana Carolina de Faria Silvestre sparked a deep conversation on whether theory of emotions is as central to the autonomy of law as rationality (answered by a resounding "yes!") >>>

Philosophers: Have you read any interesting work on apologizing for things for which you're not at moral fault? (E.g., apologizing for being late to lunch with a friend when the reason was you were saving someone from grave harm)
Looking into this atm, would love to know if I'm missing anything! 🙏

My good news of the day is that the specialist cleared Varda to go back home with me, all but ruling out the scary cancer we thought she had. We are home, and she is feeling demonstrably better! Follow up in three months! ❤️😻

Question: When you think of a song, can you "hear" it in your mind?
When you think of a smell, can you "smell" it in your mind?
For a project about affect I'm working on. I have a theory, checking the literature, but wanted to ask some people too 🙏

Anyone know of a good handwriting to print app for a touch screen laptop?
I need to take notes more efficiently when I read (and have the notes searchable), but I work so much better when I write notes down by hand.
I wish there was a way I could do both.

Proud to say I was Eli's teacher in his first year of undergrad, so obviously everything he's doing right can be attributed to me 😂😇

I've kept pretty quiet about this for years. Now that I finally had the courage to say something on a public forum, I also feel the need to share.
At one point in my academic life, a professor who I kind of worked with (worked with people who worked with him) had raped a few other grad students. And it was known gossip, and NOTHING WAS DONE.
I even consulted some faculty members and some outside people, and all told me there was nothing to do.

Sitting in my car in front of the library for the past 20 minutes. I wonder if the security guard at the entrance thinks I'm planning anything, and not just taking deep, calming breaths, willing myself to just go inside and get to work.
It's just one of those days...

Hey #AcademicSky, any advice for an early-career researcher who wants to organize his first conference? What’s the one thing he should watch out for?
To protect his privacy, the researcher in question (Guillaume Dalle) will remain unnamed.

Law and sci-fi has been my guilty ruminating pleasure for quite some time. So many thoughts on legal and moral systems as portrayed in Dr Who.
Anyway, this looks super interesting and worth applying for, to those interested in that kind of thing!
Are you working on:
1. Dystopia/utopia, climate change & law.
2. Law & sci-fi.
3. Patriarchy/capitalism & the limits of law.
4. Alternative history & law.
5. Legal progress/regression?
Then submit an abstract to our #SLSA2025 stream, 'The Law(s) of the Future! 🧵 www.liverpool.ac.uk/law/slsa-202...
