I came across so many inspirational posts about how we should be using January to rest instead of reinventing ourselves and starting new things.

I really have trouble with resting, so I'm interested in what others think?

Fellow autistic folks, I need your opinions. Do you relate to needing your own space? I actually feel like I'm the opposite, I much more prefer to be in the same room as my partner, even if we're doing completely different things!

Dear autistic office workers: stop wondering.

You can stop starting messages with "I hope you had a great festive period". Enough time has passed. We're back to "I hope you're well".

This memo has been brought to you by a fellow autistic office worker who also overthinks pleasantries.

Oof, ngl, the first week back to work has been a roller coaster. I keep feeling like I'm not getting enough done?? 🙈

* reads about a new timeblocking method that will solve all my problems at work *

* implements it *

my AuDHD ass: Yes. I have successfully solved all my problems. I have unlocked my true potential. Never again will I be burdened by burnout, panic, or anxiety. My life is fixed, now and forever.

I struggle to switch off so much, I downloaded an app that helps you make random decisions 💀 The hilarious thing is, it is actually helping. #actuallyautistic

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone. Are you one to make resolutions? My own spin on resolutions is to set a theme for the year, like setting an intention. This year will be "the year to be brave". Do you have any goals for the new year? 👀

I find it so hard to switch off, even when I'm officially on leave. I keep thinking about work. Projects I could start, to-dos left undone, how to respond to emails. Is anyone else with autism struggling with this?

Well done folks, we survived the Christmas stress. Now we can go back to regular stress.

Someone shared about having a "Christmas twig" instead of a Christmas tree.

They grab a huge branch from the park, hang it on their wall, and decorate it. When Christmas is over, they chuck it back in the park (without decorations of course).

Do you have any brilliant traditions like this?

ADHD time blindness tip for appointments: if you need to arrive on time somewhere, start a journey in Google Maps as soon as you're awake. The app will float on top of all your other apps and display your ETA, so you can keep an eye on whether you'll be late.

(Not me doing this as I type this 🙈)

I took my cat to get washed and groomed for the first time (yes, there are cat groomers! I was amazed too 😂), and the intake form asked about his temperament. I wasn't sure how to spell mischievous, so I just wrote "mischief" 💀

But in all fairness, he is the embodiment of mischief.

Every year, I end up massively overspending on Christmas celebrations. I keep thinking, "Oh it's Christmas, go on then", and then I'm horrified when I add up everything from my bank statements.

There's definitely an element of impulse purchases at play.... Anyone have any tips?

Saw this question on Reddit and now I'm super curious: does anyone here have any unique holiday transitions only you do?
December 15, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Okay, Christmas is coming. Which camp are you in:

□ Will switch off and relax during the holidays

□ Will feel guilty if they're not doing anything so will burn out harder than ever this holiday season

Pls help me settle a debate: when do you put up your Christmas tree? 🎄

I have been feeling inspired about my work again and it's felt so refreshing! I have some ideas for how I could do things differently, and I'm so excited to be working on making my ideas a reality 👀

I look forward to sharing more with you soon!

Oops, I disappeared for a while. Are you really being your authentic neurodivergent self if you don't disappear off social media for months at a time?
December 7, 2025 at 8:43 AM
I know emails often overwhelm neurodiverse folks, but I personally find having multiple email accounts for different purposes very helpful!

It makes it easier to know where to look for things, and means my incoming emails are already categorised. 👌

I may or may not be struggling with autistic burnout 😬

Give me your top tips to initiate tasks! 🙏🙏

Some that have been helping me:
- counting down
- having a treat before starting
- scheduling a little treat after finishing
- timer with a hard stop, e.g. putting the laundry on so I stop on time

Anyone with ADHD/AuDHD know that feeling when you're AGGRESSIVELY uninterested in something? 😂

Like, it literally hurts your brain to keep listening??
October 13, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Me: knows I burn out if I don't balance work and rest.

Work: "There's an opportunity to work uncapped hours this week."

Me: Well I do have about 30 spare hours I could throw in, don't I? It's only for one week, so it will be fine! I can rest afterwards and it will all work out 🤪

Anyone else?

I spoke to someone who explained he's trying to phase out his Access to Work support worker and replace them with technology.

SWs are the most sought-after element of the grant, so I was curious.

He said he couldn't chance losing his support on renewal and become jobless. Incredibly sad, isn't it!
October 11, 2025 at 7:33 AM
The exhausting thing about being invested in Access to Work is having to see things like how Labour has been undermining it for months.

It's really difficult to pour your heart into the work you do to support applicants when powers much greater than you are actively tearing it down. Rant over!

Has anyone used online body doubling sessions before? Where a bunch of people join a Zoom call and just work on their own thing? Did you find them helpful? 🤔
