I like what you did there
but what you didn’t speak volumes
Of your storied silence

I’d like to hear more
Of your lessening

Watching ‘Arrival’ because I want to concentrate on something highly creative, not really understand things and cry a lot

Spent today cooking brisket for 10 hours and eating it for 5 minutes.

Worth it.

Is there a Shazam but for whistling a tune you don’t know the name of?

I’ve read so much Cormac McCarthy lately I’ve started to be able to finish off the second half of the homilies as soon as I hear a wise mid-westernism kick in!

You gotta footnote your own footnotes. You should footnote that

I’m rereading Danielewski’s House of Leaves.
I navigated its labyrinth once yet somehow find myself becoming familiarly lost again.
Less than a fifth of my way in and already the corridors of thought fracture, expand, race.
I wonder if I need to leave a thread to find my way out

I leched over this just last night..
Nearly allowed it to dictate my choice of dinner despite having eaten pasta two meals in a row.
But it will be made… oh yes…

Never misplace anything again by always keeping it in the first place you looked the last time you lost it

My daughter relented and watched a film with me last night- ‘over two hours!’
She’ll watch endless episodic entertainment- like me- but a film’s a commitment isn’t it.
Anyway, it was One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
She was moved as hell- wildly furious at Ratched, adored Chief-McMurphy f’ship 🙌

Well worth it

I’m very much enjoying Kaos on Netflix.
Brilliant contemporisation of Greek mythology.
Got me flicking back through the two greatest reference books of all time:
The Routledge Handbook of GM and Betty Radice’s Who’s Who.

Nicely put! If you have to have someone else believe it, you’re either shaky in yourself or grifting!
August 27, 2024 at 5:20 PM
You ever have a belief system you imagined yourself based on reconciling experience with feeling, one that you didn’t read in less than an hour somewhere?
That’s all your own, shareable but unreplicatable?

You have. It needs protecting.

My daughter’s school had them at y7. Most secondaries do now I thought - their ‘flight path’

This has been a summer of binges:
(Rewatches)
The Wire
Hunderby (hush a ho)

And got round tos:
Curb your Enthusiasm
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Tight writing- actors bringing it

Sounds like a great genre. Love English (Northern) folk horror - currently taking it easy with a Ken Follett

I was boasting to my 15yo that my iPhone 8 was still going strong, whereupon its vibrate simply stopped.
I scoured help pages, all to no avail.
A ex-colleague, now working at carphone warehouse, offered a great discount on a new one.
The universe was talking…
Reader, I hit it.
It’s fine now! #Fonz

Readers, writers,
Does anyone know of a narrative, novel even, from the perspective of the land? Or sea? Or sky?
August 15, 2024 at 8:37 PM
I mean, I said I was migrating here from ‘there’ but tbh I didn’t think I was that influential
August 14, 2024 at 9:04 PM
Yup. Landed yesterday. I can only say positive things! Main reason I migrated. See and say what you like, not what you don’t.

Am I excited about the Alien: Romulus interquel? A bit. I’m too old to get giddy.

Am I rewatching all the Alien films in preparation?
Of course!

And I only learned the word interquel recently due to this film. Like it.
