It’s all about the genetics.

Here we have a wild oyster mushroom from Polk County NC, blue oyster, and king blue. I have taken each of these back to spore numerous times and they have shown positive generational adaptation to my environment, media, substrate, etc.. #fungifriends #mycology

This strain which i currently call LM4 has outshined all of my other wild genetics so far.

Quick to colonize and fruit, it has a very tender texture even in very large fruits, and a savory aroma similar to chicken bullion.

I’ll probably run this exclusively for the time being.

One of absolute favorite gourmet mushrooms to collect and eat is the often overlooked Boletus pseudopinophilus. Here is one of the nicest specimens I’ve ever seen. I was lucky enough to find it a few years back one late summer morning.

2017 was a really good year for Maitake in my area. I’m very interested to see how the 2025 season goes this coming fall being the first year after Hurricane Helene caused devastation. Many of my known trees were blown down or broken off. #grifolafrondosa #fungifriends #shroomscrolling #shrüümfiendz

If you happen to be in the Hendersonville NC area be sure to stop in at Ecusta Market.

These folks are putting in hard work building up a wonderful community resource with an emphasis on local products.

You can pick up some of my gourmet mushrooms while you’re there. #eatlocal #fungifriends

This particular wild Hericium genetic line has been producing excellently.

I’ll never get tired of learning and working with fungi.
