My 7 th graders get 30 minutes recess twice a week, which we all benefit from. I bought jump ropes for them to use since we don't have a safe place for playing ball. 22 12/13 year old kids and not a single one can jump rope. That's just sad, America.

I'm not sure that paying rent, utilities, transportation, and groceries constitutes "blowing" one's paycheck. My youngest makes decent money but covering the basics and child care means that any unexpected experiences, like a flat tire, can put him needing gig work to close the gap.

How my school week has gone: yesterday my first block , normally 2 hours. had to stay for 3 hours while the cops brought in a couple of dogs to sniff the whole campus and today we spent 3 hours on the softball field because of a bomb threat. Oh and no drugs or bombs were found. Yay literacy.
