Well, I got totally fed up with all the hassles and gotchas using and modifying #Lubuntu 22 and #24.04LTS #Linux releases after 10 years of smooth operation using previous releases.
I've now converted my machines to #MINT #v22.2 using the #XFCE display manager and it is EXCELLENT. Recommend it!...

But I didn't try #MINT 's #Cinnamon desktop as it sounded too #MSWin -ish and probably bloated with too many accessories that I didn't need. That's why I opted for XFCE which was reported to be quicker and leaner than #Lubuntu 's #QT based equivalent. Mint's file manager #THUNAR is far superior too!
