So angry at myself! Network kit came today. I measured the height of the wiring cabinet in the new house, but not the width. The switch I ordered is too big. ARGH! Now I have to find a much smaller form factor that has enough POE wattage to handle the cameras and the access points. Very annoying!

Big move is almost complete! Arrived in Georgetown on Sat, new home walkthru set for tomorrow, and closing on the 12th. The last 6 months have been all manner of nuts, but we'll soon be home and figuring out the new normal.

This week has been a hard month, and it's only Tuesday. I am fried, done, kaput.

On track to close the sale of our home in 2 weeks, half moved into the Airbnb until little miss finishes up school and her black belt tests, and the new house should be ready some time in late Aug/early Sept. We're cramming a years worth of activity into 4 months. Remind me not to do this again.

Today is World Backup Day. It doesn't matter what system you use, or how mature the program is. Run the backup, test the backup, store the backup. The data you save will be your own. #worldbackupday

The last two weeks of traveling for work have been brutal. I've been doing everything remotely for so long, that the travel/in person meeting/"being on all the time" muscles have atrophied. Fortunately, no work related travel for the next month or two I think!

I sincerely hate that this article is necessary, but given the state of this shithole of a country, it's necessary to warn people: www.theverge.com/policy/63426...
Is it safe to travel with your phone right now?

Ok, so here's the thing. I am, shall we say, inebriated. In my defense, they had my favourite beer in the world. It's almost impossible to find on tap and cold in this shithole of a country, so I may have overindulged. But suffice to say, I am a happy man. Thank you Samuel Smith's!!

It’s a good day when we get a new album drop!

Whirlwind of a week. Typical work craziness, flew to Austin to get the design center stuff done for the house, flew home and banged my head against Amazon EKS for a few hours (problem still not solved, but it'll have to be by Fri), and now game day. Bunch of friends coming over for food/drink/fun.

Knowing the names of the an unelected oligarch’s underlings who are destroying the government from within is a crime now, apparently.

Another Netflix price increase?? I really hope I'm still around to see the myth of perpetual profit growth implode. Time to start culling subscriptions we rarely use. They forget that they're only successful because they're marginally easier than piracy.

It is absolutely soul crushing when someone whose work I had loved so much, and that I allowed to have a big influence on how I think about things turns out to have been made by a monster.

My social batteries got completely drained over the holidays. Don't get me wrong, I loved spending time with the people we saw, but there was a lot of "peopling" (if that makes sense to anyone) back to back and my brain just turned off. We're back now and feeling much more like me. :)

Replaced the light that was dying over the kitchen table, and got a smart switch set up for it. I'd say it's been a productive week. Wait... What? What do you mean it's only Tuesday! Noooo!

Excellent weekend! The wife's big xmas present got installed early (the installers didn't want to wait until the 23rd). She likes it so much I'm going to survive going a smidge over the budget. All in all, huge win!

It’s is 42F/5.56C outside (real feel of 32F) right now. For Orlando, that is colder than a witches tit. I am officially declaring it work from home in sweats while drinking hot cocoa day.

Well yesterday was rollercoaster! Rode in a float for the cities annual Xmas parade, tossed a bunch of candy to the littles along the side of the road as we passed, and then had some delicious food for lunch and shopping. By the end of the day I was entirely wiped!
