A competition at Julius Mkhonto was won by Mxolisi Ngwenya, a young farmer in the making. He received a Mango tree, a chance to harvest honey in Patrick Twala’s garden and to pick traditional maize when it is harvesting time.

Three African penguins (Spheniscus demersus) off beach in SW Cape Town. These are the most endangered penguins with <20k remaining, down from 2m in 1900 & dropping fast. Could be extinct in 10-20 years. Oil, overfishing are main risks.

Here we have part of a monster devouring all in it's path. This is the Tendele Coal mine, in Somkhele, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This is the iMfolozi River not far from the Wilderness area of the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. Local communities have been displaced and the homes of many others threatened
