Probably twinning, cloning, or something else to that effect. I've seen tf indicators used to tf before as well like for example Erakir's scarf as a popular example or the goggles of Naka of the Round Critters Gang. My friend Akumu does twinning tfs through her character's collar sometimes.

Whilst more recent things... I use a star-shaped tag(as seen on my Genie form) and a small hair tuft as a tf representation thing. I also use colors to show my characters(like for example AG, my 'sona, uses blue and green, and SOL uses purple pink and magenta).
