Team members Drs. Kirkland, Ferguson, Tomko, and Squeglia, with Tirza Alcala and @louisemewton.bsky.social (University of Sydney), published one of the first papers using Entryway data, finding that a 30-day recall window is sufficient and less burdensome for assessing youth alcohol use patterns.

Dr. Lindsay Meredith and UCLA collaborators found that ibudilast, an anti-inflammatory medication, reduced alcohol craving in a 12-week trial for alcohol use disorder. Women may respond more strongly to immune-based treatments. Read more in @acerjournal.bsky.social

Last fall, Dr. Lindsay Meredith participated in a scientific meeting in Washington D.C. on alcohol cue exposure paradigms. This paper outlines recommendations to enhance their use in lab studies testing new medications. @acerjournal.bsky.social

Our NIH-funded trial found N-acetylcysteine (NAC) reduced alcohol use in youth with moderate–severe AUD, but not mild AUD, suggesting NAC’s potential as adjunctive treatment. Published in @jaacapjournals.bsky.social

New paper in @drugalcreports.bsky.social: @brittneydawn.bsky.social, Tomko, Kirkland, Ferguson, Squeglia et al. report cannabis use disorder is linked to reduced oral microbiome diversity & unique bacterial patterns, especially with heavier use.
