Currently a homeless Army veteran living in my truck/storage units in Austin TX since August. Apparently the waiting list is a year or more. The VA has nothing to offer.

So I guess the only way I can get assistance getting into a house is to just stop working, sell everything I have left, and start from scratch? That’s a huge ton of crap.
They should be front lining people like me to keep the downward spiral from happening to begin with.

It just seems backwards to me. I have tools and equipment. I have storage for it. I work pretty much every day. Yet I still live in my truck. Storage got new cameras going so I can’t do that anymore. Not that it’s comfortable, but at least it was somewhat secure and I had some privacy.

The funny part is no one tried to contact me via email, text, or voicemail to let me know.
After standing in line for an hour this morning, when I could have been working, to find this out, I was also informed that my status is a 5, and they are only sheltering 16-18.

Still in Austin. Went to the Homeless Navigation Center at Sunrise to check on my place in line for housing assistance. Apparently I missed a check up with them that I was unaware of to update my information and status. So I fell off the list.

Destroying our rights and and the judicial process. I swore an oath to protect our country and citizens from enemies; both foreign and domestic. This fast track, deliberate destruction of democracy is not going to stop any time soon. If I had the funds to do so. Someone has to fall on the sword.

It’s weird. I was sitting in my truck listening to NPR and having a self chuckle about a 29 year old from Jersey becoming the Pope. An hour later, 69 and from Chicago.

And they just killed all federal funding to Harvard for “not protecting jews against antisemitism.” Yet they let this poor guy slip through the legal cracks along with others for exercising free speech against the war in Gaza.

LTC Darryl Nelson left this mortal coil on the 20th of March. He was an exceptional officer of the Army and a man that helped others without hesitation or judgment.

In case there’s anyone willing to help me get to a funeral for one of the two officers I greatly appreciated and respected. If you travel a lot and have points you can spare, I would really like to get to Woodbridge VA by the 12th for possibly two days with a round trip from Austin Tx to Dulles.

Keeping healthy food in coolers, the ability to stay in one place for longer than a couple of days, or in a storage unit that know’s you’re there and doesn’t kick you out. I have a membership at a gym just for the restroom and showers mainly. I work out every day with my work.
