Maker of coffee. Feeder of cats. Biker of Mountains. Dad, Husband, Author, and former [many jobs listed here], now retired. Forever interested in peace, the environment, human rights, and not failing at being a decent human
My prediction for AI:
1. At its best, it’s built on senior level knowledge, which means that junior level people are no longer needed
2. Because Juniors no longer exist, and seniors die or retire, no new knowledge or innovation occurs
3. Knowledge stagnates, and jobs and consumers vanish
4. Chaos

I’ve decided it’s quite good being retired. I shall do more of it

Golden dome? Really? I am old enough to remember Reagan’s Star Wars debacle, and this ain’t no different.

Sometimes it’s not the evil in the world that makes me weary (though that is the fermenting cherry on the cake). No, it’s the day-to-day assholery and fuckwittery that really does it. For those with empathy or any kind of sense of justice or fair play, it’s a lifelong, exhausting struggle

Seen a few folks astonished by my lack of support for ChatGPT and similar. Because AI, right?

Yeah, no. What we have right now is glorified autocorrect. Glorified autocorrect that takes the energy of an entire city to do what it does, plus half of Lake Erie to cool down while it's doing it.

I think modern computer software was a mistake and we should go back to our roots of developing for limited hardware.

The same amount of electricity that could power MS-DOS for a year is now used to ask Copilot how to save a Word document to your local Desktop instead of OneDrive.

The thing you need to understand is that everyone likes their underwear folded in a very particular way. Or not folded. Either way, if you’re the laundry person you need to find that out

I would like to know how to completely disable Microsoft Copilot from my software suite.

No, actually, I would really like to know how I can scrape every ounce of it out and burn it all to ashes.

But, if I can't do that, than at least some way to keep it out of my sight. I don't want it.
