After teaching three days with COVID and the flu, two days of resting has felt so lazy 😂 I’ve decided I’m not a great patient. I started sourdough cinnamon rolls last night and baked them this morning, and I can actually smell them!

Im shocked that it’s both—my home COVID tests were negative. I’ve been good about getting COVID vaccine boosters and flu shots, but hadn’t gotten them yet this school year.

Made it through the day because it was easier to go in than make sub plans so early in the year. Crashing on the couch, but wanted to say thank you to Andrea for the chargers! These will be perfect for our new devices, especially since we don’t get any extras!

I received an Amazon package with items from my wishlist, but in my 5th day of school sickness haze, I forgot to snap a picture. If I make it school tomorrow, I’ll be sure to post! 🤧 (5th day and a sore throat and zero energy😷🤒🤧)

Had groups sort cards with place values and put them in order. This sent one kid over the edge because I said there are place values smaller than the ones place. Apparently decimals are a lie and I’m a trickster, which is what was shouted as the kid bolted from my room 😂😂😂

Palestine had a booth at the Ethnic Enrichment Festival for the first time, so they also got to participate in the traditional clothing fashion show. The audience erupted into applause and cheers when they were on stage. It was a beautiful moment!

I asked parents to write their student a little note for the first day of school and they are absolutely the sweetest!!! This is a tradition I’ll continue every year! Former teachers wrote for the few that didn’t come to Back to School Night, which is also sweet!! 🥺

On a rough day, I received this package from a donor, Brittany Loughman. I definitely needed this reminder that there’s still good left in this world. Thank you, Brittany, for helping out a smile back on my face today! I know my kids will love these math games!

Definitely feeling like quitting after that professional development today.
They’re forcing us to teach certain things by using a script, which isn’t teaching at all. I wish they’d told us this last year so I could’ve applied elsewhere.
I told Nathan we’re skipping the staff party tonight.

Received some disappointing news from our local Invention Convention. They’re no longer accepting all entries, they’re sending a limited number of invitations based on how many people sign up.
They only sent this to us…the only title one school that entered last year in a sea of privileged kids.

Teaching partner and I tackled this beast of a bulletin board today! It’s in our school’s cafeteria space, and will be used to keep track of golden spoons earned by each class! Golden spoons are earned by being respectful, safe, and kind in the cafeteria.

My students are receiving new devices this year, and we need more chargers. These blocks are on sale for a limited time for $20! They each have space for 3 chargers, which would make our limited outlet space much more efficient!
