On my daughter's 9th birthday I think about how eternally grateful I will always be to the midwives who worked to bring her into the world safely and who kept me alive (husband reminds me that it got very scary for a bit.)

Sunday dinner for my nephew's birthday today has been an insight into Christmas dinner with my parents this year. I already envy my childless friends who jet off to the Canaries to avoid the family drama, while I genuinely fear I might end up in A&E with the stress of another family function.
