I have been accused of being radicalized. No. I was born with basic empathy, it’s the world that’s decided has decided I am radical.

If we lose it all, we as a country did this to ourselves. No individuals, the country. Those who could stand up… went along and betrayed us all.

I’m at the point where I feel trepidation every time I open blue sky. What crazy thing has happened now. The mean crazies are in charge of the asylum known as the United States.

Seems to me, also, those paid the most in the US contribute the least value. Meanwhile artists, teachers and nurses work from the heart.

Happy thanksgiving. Our table is ready. Food is cooking. So much from our garden ( cauliflower, potatoes, yams) and a free turkey and ham. Stuffing made from bread I baked. Herbs from the garden. Celery I grow on my sunporch. No cost but we will have plenty to eat. Leftovers too.

Starting a scrappy zig zag quilt. It will be smaller. Pulled out my containers of scraps. I’m going to use some of them up, well hopefully most of them.

I got my electric bill $465. What? Actual usage $60. Rest was fees. Connection, transportation of electricity, taxes, and service fees. How on earth can I bring that down? I can’t.

The beautiful gourds my hubby grew for me are finally ready. Aren’t they beautiful?

So young folk, make friends with your neighbors. Especially your old ones. We love a good trade. Shovel their snow out of the goodness of your heart. Often, we will bring by stuff over as a thank you. Like fresh baked cookies.

Here’s how the trade went. We say hello in passing. She said that the canned green beans, peas, and corn were giving her gas. I said I had an over abundance of carrots and potatoes. Want to trade? We bartered. I added a pack of ground coffee I couldn’t use. She added three packs of pasta. Deal.

This is how you do it. Get to know your neighbors. Today, we traded. I had things she needed. She had things she needed. Like in the 1930’s, trading helped people to survive. Both of us have stocked pantries now.

Naught dogs tore up toilet paper. It galls me that stores have raised the price of toilet paper so high. It’s made in the US. No tariffs. It’s just greed no need.

Took a look. Yep, few took notice of the wisdom I posted. They don’t want to know. Not much different than the MAGAs. Ignore old folk wisdom. Learn the hard lessons on your own. So sad. Too bad.

Same thing with germs. She believed in vaccines. She lost seven siblings to whooping cough, diphtheria, measles. She felt it was important to wash your hands often. But being exposed to certain germs. You build immunity. We are too clean focused today. Never got so much as a cold. Still don’t.

My grandma had a theory, you expose yourself to different foods at a young age, you build immunity and not allergies. People laughed. Doctors today have discovered that if you are exposed to certain foods at a young age, you are less likely to develop allergies to it. Grandma was wise.

Every culture is different. What is acceptable in one may be horrifying to another. It’s a totally different mindset. The best you can do is try and understand. Their reasoning for their behaviors is based on generational experiences. All you can do is decide if you can live within it or not.

I have more experiences but won’t post them. You wouldn’t believe them. You may not believe the ones I have. Good hearted people. Devout. Loved their families. Worked hard. Helped each other. What was normal culture for them was beyond what I could understand in many ways.

Another experience from very rural school:15 yr old six grader who had the hots for teacher and pleasured himself in the classroom.Called parent. Big man. He wondered if it was his fault because he collected turkey semen for local farmers. Visual of how to jack off a turkey. Think pinkie and thumb.

Writing all this has helped. It’s out there even though I know no one will see it.

Another experience: I ran girl empowerment groups there. Didn’t call it that. One fifth grader came happy. She got her period which meant she could be “ initiated “ by her uncle. Called CPS. Cultural. Not considered abuse. First time is with someone you know and trust.

My first job. Not many openings the counselors in a very rural school just quit. Religious instruction was taught daily in the public school. Men wore suits. Women long dresses. Interview. was asked what was the last book I read besides the Bible. Looked at them and said, chicken soup for the soul.
