Welcome to the Vortex,
We got lots of snow,
Degrees are minus -20,
"A bit chilly, don'tcha know",
So you better bundle up,
Lots of layers, really nice,
We're not buying nothing;
Gonna go and yell at Ice;

It's the Vortex, welcome to the Vortex,
It's icicles you'll
Sn-sn-sn sneeeeeeeze!!

My online shop will be part of the Friday strike.

But one thing I'm planning to offer tomorrow is a free Patreon post with a PDF of "Etoile du Nord" for you to print out at home. It's been such a hard road for us all lately, and you all deserve something good.

ICE shot a woman the next neighborhood over, in front of a friend of mine. The woman died. We're all really frightened and angry. There's video, and tons of witnesses to what happened. It's horrifying.

It's Monday, so I'm back on my shenanigans, finishing up little projects and putting up listings in my online shop. But that leafy choker needed juuuuust a few more beads, and I'm keeping it for myself.

At 3am I was having nightmares about zombies and civil unrest, like one does. And when I woke up, I found out we had apparently invaded Venezuela and taken their president and first lady prisoner.

It's 3 days into 2026, and I already want to send it back to the kitchen...

This week I'm basically taking "off" for a nice staycation. So there's been cooking, and tidying up, and virtuous gym-going and whatnot. And I've been playing with art supplies I haven't really tried in a big way. I broke out some of the new Posca markets, and have been having a really good time...

My painting is up in the shop now, along with a few new necklaces! And there are new prints in the "reproductions" section, because there's nothing like seeing work I've done on a spiral notebook...

A brooch is tangled in a thorny rose bush, now slumbering for the deep winter cold. The tree behind it stands watch, with strange little creatures to keep it company in the winter silence… 9 …

Dear fellow Minnesotans; do you have some sweaters that could use cleaning? This snowstorm is the perfect opportunity to snow-wash your woolen clothes. While you're out shovelling, take your sweaters outside, cover them in snow and leave them for 10 minutes or so.

Eldritch Heart garnet and beaded necklace with polymer clay sculpted pendant, 26 inches.
A strangely wonderful polymer clay sculpted pendant is the focus of this necklace, thought it also has lovely garnet and glass beads to catch the eye and snare the senses. A battered but healing he…

I'm back from picking up my artwork from a show; and it looks like I'll have a couple of pieces to put back in the shop, just in time for the holidays! The black and red Guardian Eye is already spoken for, but do give a yell if you can't live without one of the other pieces!!

You'll see my shop is a little depleted these days! That's mostly because a lot of my embroideries are out in the world! The MiniARTure show is wrapping up this weekend, but these three pieces are going into the next show, "Into the Fiberverse" at the Otherworldly Arts Collective.

A nice thing about teaching adult community classes? Sometimes students will bring something to share with the class. A student in my knitting class brought in a crocheted bear that needed a knitted poncho. An embroidery student baked cranberry scones, and one of them was my breakfast. I love this.
