Neon how it should be used, on Great Windmill Street. The Christmas lights in Soho this year are all based on children’s drawings :)

I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

Fascists fundamentally misunderstand the politics of artists, of fashion, of self-expression, because they do not respect them and they are obsessed with conformity.

They do this a lot. In the same way that they insist all feminists are ugly, and that's why they're feminists. It's bullshit.

Put those paint tins back, no baby polar bears, alpacas or labradoodles were skinned to make this chair (if the price tag hadn’t clued us in already )

Potential excellent t-shirt?

‘A Bigger Splash’

Acrylic paint on canvas

'When you photograph a splash, you're freezing a moment and it becomes something else. I realise that a splash could never be seen this way in real life, it happens too quickly… so I painted it in a very, very slow way.’

Polyvinyl acetate paint on hardboard

(This is a big painting that is near impossible to look at close up. To get a tiny sense of what it does, zoom in on this photo so it fills your screen, and then try to focus on it. Hijinks will ensue in your eyeball situation.)

Another banger from Mario Bellini: the Olivetti Divisumma 33 Printing Calculator. Even the box it came in is a striking piece of graphic design. (Imagine how much time you’d waste on debating whether to keep it or throw it away)

Just found this from 2013: Sarah McIntyre’s sunday newspaper strip SHARK & UNICORN. An angry man told her “that does not look like a unicorn! That’s a fat pig!” So I rewrote it.
She liked it.
It has an extra edge now.

Fell down a rabbit hole into Olivetti-land… the Logos 55 Printing Calculator from 1975. Designed by Mario Bellini, who did a lot of these kinds of machines: like Dieter Rams with Braun.
Look at that keyboard. So beautiful :)
