Thinking about a core challenge in military horror today. It's one thing to write about fear, but how do you convey the specific dread of watching highly competent, rational people realize their expertise is completely meaningless?

Fell down a research rabbit hole on the Maginot Line's Fortress Schoenenbourg. A self-contained city for 630 men, deep underground. The perfect symbol of safety and isolation.

Finished the first week of sharing my novel, THE SPECIMEN. The biggest challenge is balancing the WWII setting historically grounded with supernatural dread feel completely real. A fascinating tightrope.

Thanks to everyone following along so far.

Reading Algernon Blackwood this weekend. "The Willows" is just a masterclass in making nature feel ancient, intelligent, and deeply alien. A huge inspiration for the kind of dread I aim for.

What are your favorite "nature as cosmic horror" stories?

Been musing on the core of cosmic horror. What if the real threat isn't malice, but indifference? An infection that doesn't want to kill us, but simply use us as a catalyst for its own evolution.

That's the nightmare in my WWII horror novel, THE SPECIMEN.
