A light snowfall currently looks most likely for NYC metro area on Sunday night. But there remains some model differences in how much the northern stream shortwave amplifies and interacts with the southern stream shortwave. Thus, there is high uncertainty regarding amounts.

Good morning, NYC metro! Today starts out brutally cold. But it begins warming up this afternoon with high temps approaching 30°F. Wind chills will climb up into the teens and lower 20s with lighter winds this afternoon. We’ll have plenty of sunshine all day too.

While most of the NYC metro area now is bitterly cold and dry, a Norlun/inverted trough is still giving parts of Eastern Long Island, Eastern CT and Rhode Island more snowfall. Some spots currently have between 5”-9”.

A couple of disturbances will be passing to the north and south of us late tonight and Wednesday morning. Can’t rule out a few isolated light snow showers or flurries. But it looks mostly dry in the NYC metro area.
