I work Polgar Mate-in-2's for #chessdojo and yet I miss easy 3-ply mates like this game on #Lichess. Blitz may be good for opening practice but it dulls my tactical RADAR. I need to slow down. BTW, I won, anyway.

Do you #chesspunks see what I missed here (Black to move). White just played 30.Bg3

Wife & I retired to the Philippines to be with children and grandchildren. Hope to make new friends in UTC+8 TZ for #chessdojo classical time control games. Mouselip on lichess & chesscom. Any #chesspunks around this TZ? (Im)Patiently waiting for my #chessnutpro to arrive ... it's on a slow boat.

My opponent playing Black resigned prematurely in this #chess game on #Lichess. He had only two possible moves. I am not sure how long he took when it was his move, but it did not take him long to resign. Moral of the story: Be sure you are actually lost before you reisgn!

Anyone in the know for #chess.com creating a Classical time control? Danny Rensch posted on X awhile back for recommendations for default time settings for Classical games.

How I was hooked on #chess. High School Study Hall 1975 or 1976. Bored. Cracked a library book on Bobby Fischer. Saw this diagram with the caption "R-B6!" I thought no way -- free Rook! Had to check out the book and set the position up. Made me one of the proto #chesspunks way back then.

The finale in another favorite Fischer game where he provided a model KIA vs French type of set up.

This is just before the final blow by Black in one of my favorite #chess games. What was Black's next move? Any of the #chesspunks know who played this game?

I am here only for the #chess and other #chesspunks so I unfollow people who make political posts.

My only New Year's resolution is to not play on #chess.com until they establish a classical rating category for games 30 minutes or longer. In the meantime, I am playing exclusively on #Lichess. I hope other #chesspunks and those in the #chessdojo will find me for a game. Mouselip is my username.

I am a #chessable lifetime pro so the latest change doesn't affect me, but I am wondering what other #chesspunks think of the latest change.

Finally, this is how I feel when the opening is over and it is time to come up with a middlegame plan. #chesspunks

Just decided to count them: I own 9 endgame courses, 28 strategy courses, 59 tactics courses... and (drum roll please) 288 opening courses on #chessable.

"When one of us first plays chess, he is like a man who has already caught a dose of microbes of, say, Hong Kong flu. Such a man walks along the street, and he does not yet know that he is ill. He is healthy, he feels fine, but the microbes are doing their work." Mikhail Tal

With the humongous Lichess online database ripe for data mining, is there really any advantage to keeping a large database on my computer? What do other #chesspunk folks use chess databases for? #chess

I need to make a conscious effort to overcome my materialism in chess. Is there a 12-Step method or something. :-)

Any of the #chesspunks using #Anki flashcards for #chess study? Can you provide an example of one of your cards?

Win11 Screen Recording with SCID-vs-PC experiment. This is a game I played last night in the #chessdojo Open Classical Tournament. I messed up twice and should have lost, but my opponent made the last mistake -- but I think he resigned too early. Thoughts? #chesspunks #chess

For #chesspunks doing the #Polgar5334 Mate in 2 for the #chessdojo beware, problems 1255-1470 switch to Black to move but the kindle version only shows this in the TOC. I scratched my head 15 minutes wondering WTF. Does the hardcopy of the book show the shift to Black to move at 1255?

Chessnut Pro and chess connect Chrome Extension at 15+10 may be a bit fast for me. I flagged in a good position. Oh, well... it was an experiment. The board and extension worked well... me, not so much!

Anyone else anxiously waiting for chesscom to make a Classical rating section? I don't want my long games rated the same as my 15+10s.

I thought Danny Rensch posted on X that this was in the works months ago.

I have a few videos about using SCID-vs-PC, a free chess database application I recommend for keeping your own games and games that interest you. It is a good, free alternative to chessbase and only costs your time to learn. #chess #chesspunks #SCID-vs-PC #SCID
