An interesting talk on poets and poetry in the Book of Lecan by @thecelticist.bsky.social at the RIA. She touches on a brief reference to the Cailleach, the only female poet in the book, and the Banshenchas.

Interesting aspect of fairy possessions i hadn't run across before from Scottish folklore. Sleepwalking explained as fairy possession, aligned with wider historic ideas that human souls wander around while a person sleeps & the idea fairies can possess a human.

even if LLMs didn't take jobs and steal from people's work I still wouldn't be comfortable in companies using them unless they found a way for them not to eat massive amounts of resources at the expense of mainly marginalised people and just the planet as a whole, the results are not worth it.

I had written an article about racism in fairy folk belief for Witches&Pagans magazine in 2022, and as the magazine is no more and I've pulled my material from academia. edu I wanted to make sure it was still publicly available.

Today's PSA
Seelie & Unseelie are Scots terms, coming from lowland folklore. Seelie, meaning blessed or lucky, is a euphemism for the Good Neighbours that dates to the 15th century. The Unseelie court (unlucky, ungodly group of Fair Folk) is a later addition which appears by the 19th century.
