Today, at a clinic, the doctor asked me: “have you had any giddiness?”
And I said: “No. I freaking wish!”
And he was like: 😅 ok.

And that’s how I found out that “giddy” can just mean “dizzy.”

Can we normalize philosophers actually citing their audio/video sources? I know citing a comedy set might involve you having to do some googling on how to do it… but without it, I have no idea which show you’re actually talking about. This is undergrad level.

There’s a man in this coffeeshop with his phone on loud and his ringtone is the classic Hello Moto tone. Every time his phone rings, all my teen trauma comes right back.

Today, I closed about 60 of the 400 open tabs on my phone browser. What did YOU accomplish that could possibly rival this?

I have been away from Delhi, in Europe, for two weeks. You may wonder how, if at all, my Instagram ads have changed in this time. Well, apparently Instagram now thinks I’m from Mumbai.

Current mood: grading final papers at a coffeeshop and the staff is playing “My Heart Will Go On” for the second time in a row on full blast. Also, I’m the only patron in the coffeeshop.

If a reviewer questions the argument of your paper, you can borrow this from Schopenhauer: “This explanation is entirely sufficient for me as well as satisfactory for my investigation, and will be equally insightful to those who have followed me thus far and agreed with my view of the world.”

My resolution this year and going forward is to stop saying “Buddhism” when I mean to talk about multiple Buddhist tradition and say “Buddhisms” instead. Thoughts welcome.

Overheard at a bookseller. A kid was looking at some pretty bookmarks. Their mother turns to them and goes: “no. These are for people who read books.”

Re-reading Sartre’s “Existentialism is a Humanism.” He says we can’t use the strength of our feelings to make our choices because we can only judge strength of feeling by our choices. This whole argument is giving never-been-to-therapy vibes.
