I wanted a low mental expenditure campaign to run for my friends so I used #dnd5e as it's what I am most comfortable with.

Only to have to spend HOURS on prep just reworking monsters so they don't suck.

I think I should have just used #PF2e

If you had your party wake up to "tragedy", let's say a town flooding.

Would you still let them prepare their spells? Or would you use that as a "you had no time to change spells" moment.

This would be under the assumption that a long rest HAS occurred.
