betrayal

In autumn
a forest path walked,
leaves fallen along the ground
covering what lay below it all;
dirt, rot, feces,
but it looked pretty;
I never saw
until the path turned
and I stepped forward,
light glinting for only a second
too late
as I stumbled into still water

Going to be starting a patreon to post my stories on. Starting off with free content I wonder if folks support new artists there without a preexisting fanbase. I don’t need fans but I want to share my stories with fear of them being stolen by AI.
Any other artists have thoughts or experience?

Sometimes I feel like my writing is like Peggy Hill confidently speaking Spanish and people are just too polite to say something, and any compliments feel like Hank Hill going "This is my wife Peggy and she's real smart." if that makes sense?

text that reads: it’s a hand on the back of my neck in greeting clammy and spindly familiar though it’s been some time it cranes its head over my way and i don’t look, but i hear it, ragged, hoarse breath in my ear, then a dried, broken and healed wrong arm guides my wrist to cup its face, i feel the gaunt lines of its cheeks then the sharp pain of its teeth what am i but a meal to satiate its hunger and be punished for banishing it away when it can only die with me
