Stayed up until 2am reading a romcom, as is tradition.

The worst part of writing a story for adults is having to pretend to care about the characters’ jobs. I’m off the clock, what am I doing worrying about deadlines and career satisfaction!!

I find it soooo hard to DNF a book. 60% through one and feel like I gotta see it through, to get credit towards my Goodreads count.

#romancewriters, what is your ideal chapter length?

Been kicked in the teeth a lot since March, and as we deal with our latest (hand foot & mouth disease), I’d just like to put it out there that a win would be really nice. And if not a win, then a draw. And if not a draw, then maybe I could just sit this game out for a little while.

I need to update my author website, and as a web developer I’m usually happy to, but I’m finding Squarespace templates to be clunky and kinda ugly. Anyone LOVE their Squarespace theme?

There is no time I’d rather write than when I’m in my day job.

There are a million important things happening in the world. But if I may, for just one moment, throw my coin into Bluesky like a wishing well: please, please, please can I have some good news soon? The long silences of publishing is so deafening and it’s weird we accept it.

I’m 70,000 words into my adult fiction book and finally starting to really love it, which I think is a death-knell, right? If I love it then it’s rubbish? Do all writer brains work this way? 🙃

#kidlit writers: I’m writing a dinosaur PB set during the extinction event. I want to use dinosaur characters that weren’t technically alive for the event (they’d gone extinct in other eras)… because they’re more recognizable. Do you think it matters if it’s not scientifically accurate?

I’m doing it, you guys. I’m writing the shitty first draft!! Normally I always edit as I go, but I’m trying something new this time. I plotted everything, wrote up a full chapter by chapter synopsis, and now I’m just… writing it! And it sucks!! 🙃
