Professionally, I am a librarian who gets to spend most of the work day buying Adult Fiction. Aside from that, I am a Linux-curious Chromebook user, a Weird Fiction explorer, casual gamer and a really, really bad bass guitarist.

Difficult day clearing out my mother's apartment. Many items of little $ value but a lot of emotions. A chair older than me with threadbare upholstery. A concert tee from Paul McCartney. A strange wooden owl I just always remember being around. The tasks and feelings will stretch for months, I fear.

Me in conversation with author Marlon James for the Fall for the Book event this past week. Found him kind, thoughtful and a great interview. A lot of fun and a great event!

Looking forward to tonight's event with Marlon James on the campus of GMU. He's written some of the best fantasy of the last decade and I'm curious what he'll have to say fallforthebook.org/marlonjames/

Visiting the mall in my childhood town with my kid is like dropping into a flourescent-lighted liminal space co-opted by capitalism
