Really, the solution for now is to dump Cinnamon, dump Openbox, dump plasma-x11, dump xdotool and wmctrl. Also, I need batteries for my TV remote, ugh

Dead in the water. Openbox doesn't pass the bluetooth connection of a controller to Steam.
We're getting somewhere.
The solution is tremendously hacky, but it does work. You have to setup a separate TTY that autologins, that you can key over to, and it automatically launches Steam.
You still have to pass a gamescope command to steam game properties -

Gaming, spanned monitor gaming, and app-sensitive mouse profiles done, although that last one has an asterisk on it. Still have to rebuild my simple automation, network shares, and get my art program going in linux.
