I have a fondness for history, so I have done my own research. As a reminder, transgender is a modern term, so I don't believe in stating it explicitly. However, she did go by Eleanor, wore dresses, and worked in women's professions
Eleanor Rykener did it in late medieval England, and was put on trial when the authorities discovered she was trans. Her statement was on display at the British Library Medieval Women exhibition. We know about her thanks to this record, but the proceedings weren't exactly pleasant for her.

I just need you to understand the degree to which every columnist and pundit claiming they just wanted to "follow the science" or have more research on trans kids is just remarkably full of shit
