I was once on a Winnipeg bus and overheard someone explain his theory that everyone has a loser friend who they maintain their relationship with only out of pity. However, he said, for balance's sake, everyone IS that friend to some other person.
I think about this from time to time.

A new Star Trek made for TV movie is coming out tomorrow — starting an Oscar winner — and I do not sense a trace of anticipation anywhere. Even Paramount barely seems to be promoting Section 31.
