When he started to swim, I thought he was going up for air, but he just wanted a different lunch menu. We moved to a different sponge. (Hawksbill)

When yellow jacks turn darker while hunting, they are rather beautiful.

Hmmm. Another menage a trois? (Spanish slipper lobsters & channel cling crab)

I think for once I got all the legs of this yellowline arrow crab in focus at the same time.

This slender filefish moved around a lot. The second photo shows where I first found him.

Cardinalfish seem very quiet with little movement. This one is a belted cardnalfish.

When I looked over at Andres, he was pointing behind me. I spun a 180 and just had time to press the shutter. (Nurse shark)

Although star horseshoe worms can retract, they are much less shy than magnificent featherdusters. They don't object to having their photos taken.

By hanging out with this big guy I learned that when resting or eating, loggerhead necks are relaxed and contracted. Note the folds of skin. But when they are swimming, loggerhead elongate their necks like some birds do. Compare with second photo.

Portrait of a flamingo tongue. Above the eyespot and antennae is its tube-like siphon, formed from a flap of its mantle. The siphon is used for breathing and sensing. For my non-diver friends, the shell of a flamingo tongue is solid cream-colored, and the spots are on the fleshy, retractable mantle.

When this green turtle started swimming, I thought she was going up for air. But instead, she went to this soft coral to scratch her back.

We see so many adult blue tangs, but so few juveniles.

Andres found an weird-looking Elysia that I had never seen before. It has been determined that it is either an unusual variation of Elysia Papillosa or it is Elysia sp. (the species is unknown or hasn't been identified). He found two of them in one week, so perhaps something new for Cozumel. 😲

I wasn't quick enough to catch this guy while he was swimming to his new perch. (Green moray eel)
