“Sober but social” -my new tagline
It will still be tv, movie and book reviews, mixed with my odd views on other stuff along the way.
And of course there will be the odd spelling mistake.
Hump day! Quite liked this pic I took of mine, so please enjoy!

No Country For Old Men ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
9/10 IMDb

Yes I had never seen it! And with that out of the way…
What a film, the direction is spot on, and what feels like a small story is so epic in its journey. With a brilliant cast this gritty film had me gripped.

Crime 101 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 8/10 IMDb

This had me gripped throughout, building cleverly and interweaving everyone nicely together. It’s slickly directed and Laytons script pieces everything together perfectly.

Been feeling rather meh today! Not sure why?!

Fought with myself and resisted getting a takeaway, so won’t beat myself up about that tomorrow.

But have made my way the Scream 1-3 (for the millionth time)

Election ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 7/10 IMDb

A fun darker high school comedy, which takes good poke at America. Witherspoon shines her and Broderick does a good job as the hapless teacher.

Queer ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful to look at which is no surprise coming for Guadgnio. Craig is brilliant as is Daan De Wit! But where is should pull at the minds and hearts it leaves you cold. The psychedelic drugs trip heads into body horror territory, which felt jarring.

“Wuthering Heights” ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6/10 IMDb

This is not one for classic literature purists and many will say Brontë will be turning in her grave.
That being said there is a lot to be said for Fennell’s version. It’s never not stunning to look at, and from start to finish is 1/2

A Knight’s Tale

25 years old this year and still daftly charming as it was on release. Ledger is a great lead, backed up nicely the supporting cast.

WHAT IF…? Season 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

While not a strong as the first two seasons, there was still plenty to enjoy.

So sad to hear of James Van Der Beek’s passing.
Dawson’s Creek formed a huge part of my teenage years.

Hamlet ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6/10 IMDb

Ahmed is brilliant, and at times it is nicely framed, but it does lose itself at times as you can’t always hear what people are saying, as they mumble Shakespeare’s words.

The Muppet Show (2026) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cute nostalgia trip, that hit all the right notes for me. (Once I got used to a few of the newer voice cast)

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A solid third outing and while I guessed part of it early on. It was fun to watch the mystery unwrap. Craig is fun if a little restrained. O’Connor is great and he’s excellently backed up by the starry cast.

Evil Season 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

While it petered out a little in the last two episodes. I still loved this show, the often crazy inventive stories , and crazy demons the popped up.

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6/10 IMDb

Rose Byrne is superb throughout, and that’s even though her character for me became more and more unlikable. But then I don’t feel like Bernstein wants her to be. As this aspect adds to the spirally uncomfortable nature of the film

Send Help ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ IMDb 8/10

Genuine cinematic fun from start to finishIt’s makes you laugh and wince, with both gory and awkwardness! Raimi pulls out all his bag of tricks, from pov cameras, to comical gore, jumps, to bonkers performances. And as for those performances… 1/2

Cheesy slice of a movie, this film scared me as 8 year old child. Not so much now, haha.

The Critters are decent enough for a low budget affair, and it’s still a daft enjoyable piece of 80s camp.
